About Us
Who We Are: The Capital District Tobacco-Free Coalition (CDTFC) is a non-profit partnership of people and organizations from Albany, Rensselaer and Schenectady counties.
Our Motto: Fighting Big Tobacco. Saving Lives.
Our Mission: Reducing adolescent and adult use of tobacco through cooperative programs in prevention, cessation, advocacy, and community education.
Since 1993 the Coalition has been working in the community to meet these goals:
1. Eliminate exposure to second hand smoke.
2. Decrease the social acceptability of tobacco use.
3. Promote cessation of tobacco use.
4. Prevent the initiation of tobacco use among youth and young adults.
Our Methods:
1. Educate the public about the risks of tobacco use, exposure to secondhand smoke,
and the tactics of the tobacco industry in marketing to children and youth
2. Conduct media campaigns to raise awareness and promote cessation
3. Train community agents of change to promote tobacco-free goals
