Letter to the Editor
The Saratogian
I would like to applaud the Hannaford of Clifton Park, which during it’s current store remodel has chosen to reduce the visibility of tobacco products while eliminating all tobacco advertising. Research in the U.S. and abroad suggests that exposure to in-store tobacco promotions is a primary cause of youth smoking. Very few adult smokers begin after high school, with 90 percent of adult smokers starting at or before age 18.
It is great that Hannaford is taking this action to help its customers continue to make healthy choices and lead even healthier lives.
